Overview

This internship supports the Land, Housing and Informal Settlements Section within UN-Habitat, focusing on graphic design and visual communication for knowledge products and advocacy efforts.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design and visually format knowledge products, including policy briefs, data analysis, reports, case studies, and human-interest stories.
  • Conceptualize and produce infographics and other visual assets.
  • Design communication materials such as flyers, cards, roll-ups, and social media graphics and short videos.
  • Support the sourcing of relevant images.
  • Support the design and implementation of land and housing-related advocacy campaigns.
  • Support the development and management of the Housing Knowledge Platform and other knowledge management platforms, focusing on visual identity and graphic design standards.
  • Support the organization of events and meetings, and provide on-site or virtual support during workshops, webinars, and training sessions.
  • Attend meetings and events and prepare summaries or reports.
  • Perform any other related tasks as required.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Experience in graphic design and communication is desirable.

Qualifications

Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs. Preferred areas of study: Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Digital Media, Architecture or related field.

Remuneration
The Internship is UNPAID. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
