Overview

Provide technical support for land cover and GIS activities under the project "Enhancing Regional Technical Capacities for Sustainable Land Monitoring and Development" in Senegal.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in regional coordination of land cover/land use activities.
  • Provide technical support in GIS and Remote Sensing.
  • Organize and implement regional project activities, including meetings and workshops.
  • Ensure documentation and archiving of technical information.
  • Support needs and gap assessments on land cover and land use.
  • Support raising awareness and knowledge sharing on land monitoring.
  • Provide technical assistance for national land cover legends development.
  • Support the design and development of training programs and materials.
  • Contribute to the development of technical guidance documents on land monitoring.
  • Support the design of field data collection sample strategy.
  • Provide daily support in field data collection campaign.
  • Provide support in satellite imagery classification.
  • Provide daily support to the project technical working group.
  • Develop land cover dataset for Senegal.
  • Populate FAO Land Cover Legend Registry (LCLR).
  • Assist in other project tasks.
Required Experience

At least 5 years of relevant experience in spatial data handling and analysis, satellite data processing and management, GIS and remote sensing applications.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Agricultural, GIS, Geography, Environmental Sciences or a closely related technical field.
