Overview

Provide technical support for the energy efficiency component of the "Forest Resilience in Armenia" project, focusing on woodstove technology analysis, adaptation, and testing.


Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and record wood stove requirements for target households.
  • Review vocational school mapping to identify training gaps.
  • Review national policy documents related to rural energy access.
  • Conduct a comparative analysis of existing woodstoves, assessing performance, affordability, functionality, and scalability.
  • Record outcomes of reviews and analysis in presentations and project briefs.
  • Provide support for validation and acceptance of laboratory testing results.
  • Prepare tender documentation for woodstoves and participate in evaluation.
  • Facilitate approval processes and oversee woodstove delivery.
  • Develop guidance materials on safety measures for woodstove production, testing, and use.
  • Organize and deliver training activities for producers.
  • Support identification and selection of woodstove recipients and beneficiaries.
  • Support woodstove installation and perform other related tasks.
  • Assist International Experts during visits and via electronic communication.
  • Assist in designing required training materials, if necessary.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience in heating, heat assessments, energy efficiency, household heating demand, heating appliances (design and selection), or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement processes, including drafting technical specifications, tender documentation, and technical evaluation of bids.
  • Experience in wood stove selection, certification requirements, and procurement process at significant scale.
Qualifications

Advanced university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a closely related field.

Languages Required
Working knowledge of English and Armenian.
Languages Preferred
Experience with biomass heating technologies, wood-burning appliances, or rural energy programs is highly desirable. Experience working on projects implemented by international organizations (FAO, UNDP, EU, GCF-funded projects, or similar) is a strong asset. Familiarity with Armenia’s energy sector, rural energy context, or relevant regulatory frameworks is an asset.
