Overview

To contribute to the daily planning and coordination of WFP logistics operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and achievement of objectives. This role supports the development of logistics plans, manages operational activities, and contributes to supply chain management.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute towards the development of logistics plans and processes.
  • Support or manage logistics projects or operational activities.
  • Collect and analyse data to recommend actions to improve performance.
  • Conduct financial analysis and budget reviews.
  • Contribute to operational pipeline planning and supply chain management.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other units.
  • Guide and supervise more junior staff.
  • Collate data and contribute to reporting, including KPIs.
  • Support capacity building of WFP staff and partners.
  • Identify and build relationships with logistics colleagues.
  • Follow emergency logistics preparedness practices.
  • Participate in the review of internal processes and procedures.
  • Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required.
Required Experience

3 years of post-graduate relevant professional / managerial experience with Master’s degree or 5 years of post-graduate relevant professional / managerial experience with Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain-related industry, Logistics, Shipping, Procurement. Experience in commercial or humanitarian transportation sectors. Experience monitoring and reporting on transport and freight market conditions and trends. Experience in dealing with shipments and clearing imports/exports with customs officials. Experience coordinating procurement and transportation processes with other units/ teams. Experience in warehouse and commodity management. Experience working with corporate systems (databases, software).

Qualifications

Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, Mathematics or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience.

Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different.
Languages Preferred
Professional certification in SCM (Supply Chain Management) is an advantage.
