Overview
The role provides interpretation services for IOM AVRR programme activities and offers clerical and general support to AVRR staff and migrants.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide French to English or Turkish interpretation services.
- Maintain neutrality during interpretation.
- Provide clerical support to AVRR staff during counselling preparation.
- Provide ad hoc support for written French - and English/Turkish translations.
- Assist with the intake of migrants.
- Provide general information on AVRR programme and answer basic queries.
- Contribute to reporting and statistics.
- Comply with IOM Standards of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement.
- Maintain a professional appearance and migrant-friendly demeanour.
- Maintain positive working relationships.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion in treating applicants’ medical and personal information.
- Assist the process of referring vulnerable migrants with special needs.
- Inform management of any problems or issues and make suggestions for improvement.
- Perform other related duties as may be required.
Required Experience
- Two year of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, Linguistics, or related fields.
- Four years of relevant experience with a completed High school diploma.
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups is an advantage.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- Experience in translation in case management processes is an advantage.
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the organization.
- Knowledge of implementing emergency/humanitarian projects.
- Microsoft Office Skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, Linguistics, or related fields from an accredited academic institution.
- Completed High school diploma from an accredited academic institution.
