Overview

The Research Officer (World Migration Report) will support the development, design, preparation, and coordination of the World Migration Report series, including drafting content, co-authoring chapters, and assisting with data checking.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the editorial team with the development, design, preparation, and coordination of the World Migration Report (WMR) series.
  • Draft key parts of WMRs utilizing relevant data and other sources.
  • Co-author thematic chapters of WMRs.
  • Participate in the data checking of WMR chapters.
  • Provide additional research/data/information to support WMR chapters.
  • Contribute to the development and update of the WMR interactive and toolkits.
  • Support WMR dissemination, communication, and outreach activities.
  • Support the development of online knowledge management tools and resources.
  • Support the production of WMR webinar series and encourage their use.
  • Support the provision of technical guidance to Regional and Country Offices in research outputs.
  • Assist in writing, proof-reading, editing, and formatting research products.
  • Assist in organizing and supporting internal knowledge sharing activities for colleagues on research.
  • Undertake duty travel as required.
Required Experience
  • Master’s degree with two years of relevant professional experience; or Bachelor’s degree with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing papers, briefings, articles, etc. on migration (a publishing record is an asset).
  • Experience in conducting research on migration, and capacity to present research findings in various events to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in explaining complex information and data on migration topics.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with other teams and external partners.
Qualifications

Master’s degree in Migration Studies or other relevant Social Sciences (International Relations, Development Studies, Humanitarian Affairs, Political Science) or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or, Bachelor’s degree in the above fields.

Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage.
Contract Duration
