Overview
The Communications Analyst will support the implementation of a project and its activities, focusing on developing and implementing communication strategies, advocacy campaigns, and outreach to various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project-specific communication plans and strategies for different stakeholders.
- Support advocacy campaigns, events, trainings, workshops, and knowledge products.
- Prepare project timelines and production schedules for communication activities.
- Develop and implement the project’s visual identity.
- Coordinate communication activities among project teams and the UN-Habitat Brazil communications team.
- Develop, implement, and disseminate communications products including brochures, press releases, campaigns, social media posts, and audiovisual materials.
- Prepare and disseminate regular information about the project to the public, partners, and beneficiaries.
- Identify and utilize local communication channels.
- Coordinate media requests and facilitate access to subject matter experts.
- Maintain a network of contacts for information sharing.
- Provide communication coverage of project events, including photography and audiovisual documentation.
- Provide content and draft articles for UN-Habitat websites and the UN Brazil website.
- Produce and publish human interest stories, event coverage, and related content for web pages and social media.
- Provide content for social media accounts.
- Manage inquiries about the project through social media platforms.
- Produce reports on social media and website performance indicators.
Required Experience
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible communications experience at national or international level is required.
- Professional experience with local governments and/or civil society and advocacy initiatives is required.
- Previous experience working in the Brazilian context is required.
- Experience with alternative and participatory digital methodologies is desirable.
- Experience in media relations and in managing and producing content for social media is desirable.
- Familiarity with and interest in urban issues and urban global agenda of the Organization is desirable.
- Previous experience within the UN System is desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related fields, is required.
- Postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related fields is required, or additional four (4) years of relevant experience to the post, beyond the requirement.
