Overview
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with IRC staff to determine volunteer, intern, and mentor needs, and will recruit, screen, train, and supervise these individuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with program managers on intern/volunteer opportunities.
- Organize recruitment cycles and manage application/interview processes.
- Oversee onboarding and exit processes for interns.
- Maintain relationships with universities.
- Conduct outreach for the Family Mentor Program.
- Recruit, screen, and match family mentors.
- Provide ongoing training and support to mentors.
- Coordinate group sessions with mentors and clients.
- Conduct exit interviews and surveys with program participants.
- Coordinate with staff to determine volunteer needs.
- Conduct outreach activities to attract new volunteers.
- Conduct regular information sessions for potential volunteers, interns, and mentors.
- Conduct orientation sessions, training, and ongoing supervision for volunteers.
- Maintain regular communication and act as a liaison between IRC staff and volunteers.
- Maintain volunteer files and enter case notes in database.
- Manage timesheets and timesheet entries.
- Solicit opportunities to speak publicly about IRC's work.
- Actively participate in the Volunteer Coordination Communities of Practice.
- Conduct recognition events for volunteers and interns.
- Represent IRC at local meetings, seminars, forums, and community outreach opportunities.
- Conduct outreach, networking activities, and advertising to recruit and educate potential donors, interns, volunteers, and partners.
- Assist in managing shared mailboxes, Facebook page, and other external-facing communication.
- Organize and lead info session webinars.
- Maintain individual files on all interns and volunteers.
- Record and report all intern/volunteer time.
- Keep accurate electronic records.
- Coordinate with colleague(s) to ensure volunteer processing and documentation is tracked.
- Update and develop resources to manage intern and volunteer lifecycle.
- Supervise community engagement interns or other volunteers as needed.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned.
Required Experience
Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college preferred.
