Overview
This internship offers the opportunity to support the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in its mission to mobilize and coordinate effective humanitarian action. The intern will assist in studies, research, drafting materials, and supporting meetings and events related to humanitarian policy and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the design and preparation of studies on humanitarian response and coordination.
- Researching, analyzing, and presenting information.
- Helping draft written materials such as study sections, background papers, and policy notes.
- Maintaining reference and resource materials.
- Supporting the organization of meetings, workshops, and events, including note taking.
- Supporting the updating of data platforms and general planning.
- Following current humanitarian affairs and related issues.
- Preparing and organizing GCCG hybrid meetings.
- Drafting agendas and background materials.
- Managing meeting logistics.
- Drafting summary notes and tracking follow up actions.
- Communicating with cluster coordinators and other stakeholders.
- Maintaining the GCCG's online collaboration platform.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent), preferably in areas related to political science, social science, humanitarian affairs, international studies, public administration, economics, engineering, earth sciences or in a related field.
