Overview

The role is responsible for coordinating specialized daily and ad hoc projects, working groups, and conferences within a specific area of work. The incumbent will supervise staff, provide guidance, and ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables.


Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and coordinate daily and ad hoc tasks pertaining to the relevant area.
  • Establish planning and expected deliverables.
  • Coordinate missions as approved by the hierarchy.
  • Take charge of coordinating ad hoc missions.
  • Detect implementation issues and suggest refinements to planning and workflow.
  • Personally take charge of complex planned tasks.
  • Supervise staff members assigned to the unit.
  • Provide daily guidance to staff.
  • Monitor the quality and timeliness of staff's work.
  • Identify training needs for staff.
  • Assess unit's staff objectively.
  • Propose refinements to unit's workflow/working methods.
  • Monitor the use of human/financial resources and report to the Director/budget holder.
  • Provide pro-active guidance and analytical studies for hierarchy's decision.
  • Provide advice on any file related to the subject matter.
  • Prepare/coordinate the preparation of written studies.
  • Prepare oral presentations for hierarchy or for delivery during meetings/conferences.
  • Stay abreast of evolutions in the coordinated area.
  • Act as the central point of contact for the police area at stake.
  • Ensure coordination with colleagues/managers within the Organization.
  • Provide timely and adequate responses to questions or advice sought.
  • Maintain an international network of experts.
  • Represent the Organization on the specific subject matter.
  • Coordinate the organization of conferences/working groups.
  • Replace the Director to ensure the smooth daily running of the IBMTF in their absence.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor.
Required Experience

Experienced police officer, or official able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience/training in the sector of police area/law enforcement agencies. Five years' experience in the area in question and, where necessary, management experience. Experience in project management is required. Experience in staff supervision is highly desirable.

Qualifications

Three to four years' education at a university or specialized higher education establishment.

Proficiency in a second official language of the Organization (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an additional asset.
