Overview
This role leads the implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs to improve access to safe water and promote better sanitation and hygiene practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the achievement of improved access to safe water and better sanitation and hygiene practices.
- Ensure knowledge of government orientations, policies, and programs, as well as donor priorities and approaches in WASH.
- Facilitate advocacy at local and national levels for WASH objectives and targets.
- Strategically integrate WASH into ADP development programs.
- Ensure alignment of Niger WASH programs with Partnership high-level initiatives.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration with ESCA, FSL, Health, and Nutrition.
- Oversee the development of WV Niger's strategy to promote a quality culture and implement annual QAQC action plans.
- Lead monitoring and evaluation (baseline and endline) of the NI-WASH program and related WASH grants/PNS projects.
- Monitor faithful implementation of recognized WASH approaches by staff and partners.
- Develop or adapt and disseminate diagnostic, analysis, and reporting tools.
- Develop innovative approaches to monitor performance and effectiveness of NI-WASH projects and WASH grants/PNS projects.
- Ensure aggregation, processing, and analysis of WASH data and information at the national level.
- Communicate program quality issues to management and colleagues.
- Submit monthly, semi-annual, and annual NI WASH program reports, as well as quarterly NI WASH project reports.
- Ensure clear and accurate reporting to donors.
- Contribute to the preparation and writing of WV Niger annual reports.
- Provide regular technical support to WASH program field staff and Ni-WASH project staff through targeted training, tools, and resources.
- Facilitate the introduction and adoption of innovative practices, methodologies, and approaches in WASH program and project implementation.
- Identify new training needs in water, hygiene, and sanitation.
- Establish strategic contacts and relationships with potential donors and partners for WASH project funding opportunities.
- Maintain an update on donor and key partner priorities and interventions in WASH.
- Contribute to the identification, evaluation, and design of grant project proposals.
- Design and implement a pre-positioning plan with key WASH sector donors in Niger.
- Ensure technical and high-quality standards in the implementation of WASH grant projects.
- Represent World Vision Niger at the WASH cluster of UN agencies and partners.
- Ensure WASH facilitators and WASH project managers/coordinators participate in WASH working group meetings and activities.
- Support the creation or strengthening of strategic partnerships between World Vision Niger, other NGOs, universities, research institutes, and the Ministry of Water and Sanitation.
Required Experience
• At least 5 (five) to 10 (ten) years of professional experience in a WASH program/project.
Qualifications
• Master's degree in Hydraulics, Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, or related discipline.
