Overview
This role coordinates the design, articulation, and implementation of strategic initiatives related to climate resilience, sustainable food systems, adaptive social protection, and resource mobilization for WFP Guatemala. It provides specialized advice, guides inter-institutional coordination, and ensures technical and programmatic quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinates technical identification, formulation, review, and development of initiatives linked to climate financing and development mechanisms.
- Develops technical and programmatic inputs for project structuring, including theories of change, logical frameworks, climate risk analysis, feasibility studies, and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.
- Prepares technical and programmatic documentation for proposal review, validation, approval, and follow-up by funders and climate financing mechanisms.
- Strategically coordinates with government institutions, key partners, UN agencies, international financial institutions, and WFP teams.
- Drives strategic alliances and coordination mechanisms to strengthen WFP's positioning in climate and development financing agendas.
- Ensures technical and programmatic management of proposals and initiatives throughout their formulation and implementation stages.
- Provides technical guidance on integrating climate adaptation approaches into sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food systems.
- Develops technical, programmatic, and public policy inputs linking climate change adaptation with WFP's strategic objectives.
- Advises and develops capacity building processes for government institutions, implementing partners, and WFP teams.
- Analyzes programmatic information, technical evidence, and lessons learned to guide strategic decisions and generate institutional knowledge.
- Manages and systematizes evidence, learnings, and technical knowledge from strategic initiatives.
Required Experience
- 9 years of progressive and relevant experience in development programs, resilience, social protection, food systems, food and nutrition security, and/or climate change adaptation and mitigation, in national or sub-national contexts.
- Experience in project and initiative management and coordination, including planning, monitoring, reporting, and supporting institutional processes.
- Demonstrated experience working with allies and counterparts, including government institutions, UN agencies, development partners, and NGOs.
- Technical experience in project formulation and development, including support for initiatives linked to climate and/or development financing mechanisms.
- Knowledge and experience in integrated approaches linking nutrition-sensitive social protection, climate resilience, gender, and food systems.
Qualifications
University degree at the licenciatura or higher level in Economics, Public Policy, International Development, Social Protection, Sustainable Food Systems, Program Management, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, or other related fields.
