Overview
The WASH and Climate Officer provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance for the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH & Climate programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft updates for WASH & Climate in the situation analysis.
- Research and report on trends in WASH.
- Prepare technical reports and inputs for programme preparation.
- Provide technical and administrative support throughout programming processes.
- Prepare required documentations/materials.
- Collect/analyze/share information on implementation issues.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises.
- Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources.
- Prepare sectoral progress reports.
- Undertake field visits and surveys.
- Provide technical and operational support to counterparts and partners.
- Draft requisitions for supplies, services, and agreements.
- Study and understand UNICEF’s emergency response procedures.
- Take up support roles in emergency response and early recovery.
- Build and sustain close working partnerships with stakeholders.
- Draft communication and information materials for WASH programme advocacy.
- Participate in inter-agency meetings on UNDAF planning.
- Research information on potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials.
- Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, and documentation of WASH action research and innovation.
- Assist in the preparation of learning/knowledge products.
- Assist in creating and delivering learning opportunities for UNICEF WASH staff.
- Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives.
Required Experience
- A minimum of two years of professional work experience in WASH & Climate change-related programmes for developing countries is required.

Qualifications
- An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field.
- Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are a strong asset.
