Overview
This position contributes to the development and implementation of programmatic activities and projects related to the human rights situation of Roma and Sinti in the OSCE area. The role involves monitoring, analysing, and reporting on human rights issues and supporting initiatives to improve the situation of Roma and Sinti.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring, analysing and reporting on the human rights situation of Roma and Sinti in the OSCE area, particularly manifestations of racism and discrimination.
- Proposing responses to senior management.
- Drafting reports, analyses, briefing papers, memoranda, background materials, and talking points.
- Analysing and monitoring the impact of new legislation and policies on Roma and Sinti.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of activities and projects.
- Co-operating internally with ODIHR departments and establishing/maintaining contacts with relevant OSCE institutions, field operations, intergovernmental organizations, national authorities, and civil society organizations.
- Contributing to communication, outreach, and dialogue activities.
- Planning meetings, field visits, and events.
- Drafting communication materials and correspondence.
- Planning, developing, and implementing training activities and other events targeting stakeholders.
Required Experience
- A minimum of two years of directly related professional work experience in human rights, public policy, or related field, preferably on Roma and Sinti issues.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of the second-level university degree.
- Very good understanding of the international environment and functioning of international human rights institutions and bodies in relation to minorities, combating racism and discrimination, equality and inclusion policies.
- Experience in human and minority rights, in Roma and Sinti issues or other vulnerable groups.
- Familiarity with national, regional and international policies and initiatives addressing Roma and Sinti is desirable.
- Experience in designing, planning and implementing project activities addressing groups at risk of exclusion and/or discrimination, such as Roma and Sinti would be an asset.
- Experience in monitoring human rights or relevant field experience on human rights, preferably in relation to Roma and Sinti would be an asset.
Qualifications
- Second-level university degree in law, political science, sociology or social science, public administration, international relations or other disciplines related to human rights.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of the second-level university degree.
