Overview

The consultancy aims to strengthen the child protection system in India with a focus on Family-Based Alternative Care by providing strategic and technical support.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and technical support with a specific focus on Family-Based Alternative Care (FBAC).
  • Support system strengthening and implementation of care reform.
  • Document best practices aligned with national priorities and global frameworks.
  • Conduct strong and sustained advocacy and liaison with UNICEF Child Protection Network colleagues, Ministry of Women and Child development, NGO partners and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide professional expertise and assistance in working closely with UNICEF along agreed outcomes and results as well as evolving needs on a continuous basis.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the area of child protection and specifically on alternative care related programs.
  • Understanding of research and monitoring, participatory learning methodologies will be preferred.
  • Experience in report writing, and preparation of evidence based documentation for donor reporting.
  • Knowledge of juvenile justice is preferred.
  • Experience in working with Government or UN agencies.
Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social sciences or other relevant fields

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi are required.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of additional Indian regional languages will be considered an asset.
