Overview

The Regional Project Manager will provide high-level project management support for the implementation of UNDP’s urban resilience portfolio, ensuring projects produce results to the required standard within specified constraints.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate overall management and implementation of the urban resilience portfolio.
  • Liaise with relevant Project Boards to assure overall direction and integrity.
  • Plan and monitor project activities against results framework and workplan.
  • Mobilize personnel, goods and services, and oversee contractors.
  • Provide strategic guidance and management oversight to project teams.
  • Monitor implementation activities, risks, and mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate preparation and provide technical inputs for project implementation.
  • Manage requests for financial resources and monitor financial resources.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports quarterly.
  • Manage and monitor project risks and submit new risks for consideration.
  • Prepare annual workplans and progress reports.
  • Ensure mid-term review and terminal evaluation processes are undertaken.
  • Identify follow-on actions and address project issues.
  • Perform financial reporting and control mechanisms.
  • Share relevant project information.
  • Ensure all project deliverables are produced satisfactorily.
  • Notify operational completion of projects.
  • Provide direction and guidance to the project team and consultants.
  • Secure support and advice for project management.
  • Identify sustainability and follow-on actions.
  • Ensure proportional approach, cohesion, and coordination between project components.
  • Provide quality assurance of technical work.
  • Support national project coordinators.
  • Ensure good coordination and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Lead development and implementation of project communication and visibility measures.
  • Contribute input to UNDP publications and outreach products.
  • Organize regional technical events and disseminate project findings.
  • Participate in national and international fora and disseminate lessons learned.
  • Ensure consistency between project elements and related activities.
  • Collect and analyze lessons learned and best practices.
  • Harness effective partnerships for project implementation.
  • Maintain regular contact with partners.
  • Build partnerships with relevant initiatives.
  • Organize and provide leadership to learning and knowledge exchange.
  • Ensure management and administrative requirements are adhered to.
  • Provide quality assurance to project deliverables and knowledge management products.
  • Effective communication, advocacy and dissemination of project results.
Required Experience

Minimum 5 years (with Master’s degree) or 7 years (with Bachelor’s degree) of proven track record experience in project management in the area of environment, economy, urban resilience, disaster risk reduction, climate change, urban/ environmental planning, land use and physical planning. Prior experience in managing technical and administrative teams is required. Experience in developing partnerships with national and international partners is required.

Qualifications

Advanced degree (Master´s degree or equivalent) in Economy, Development, Governance, Natural Sciences, Business Administration, Urban Studies, Environmental Studies, Disaster Risk Reduction, Engineering or related disciplines is required, OR A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the above mentioned fields in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience.

Fluency in English and Russian is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another Central Asian language will be considered as an asset.
