Overview
The role supports the implementation of a UNICEF project to strengthen disaster preparedness in indigenous communities in the Bolivian Amazon. It focuses on promoting coordination between institutions, indigenous authorities, and local governments for participatory implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate institutional outreach and coordination with local governments of the TIM Indigenous Autonomous Government and the San Ignacio de Moxos Autonomous Municipal Government.
- Coordinate with municipal authorities, the Beni Departmental Government, VIDECI, indigenous authorities, and communities.
- Support the organization and facilitation of meetings, field visits, and coordination mechanisms.
- Promote the involvement of strategic actors such as academia and the private sector.
- Support the identification and prioritization of intervention communities in the TIM and San Ignacio de Moxos.
- Accompany the operational coordination of project implementation with the implementing partner and relevant governments.
- Monitor field activities to ensure alignment with emergency preparedness, anticipatory action, child protection, and cultural relevance.
- Contribute to the systematization of agreements, progress, lessons learned, and operational challenges.
- Maintain close coordination with indigenous authorities and communities to ensure participatory processes.
- Support the incorporation of inclusion, gender, child protection, and accountability approaches.
- Contribute to the preparation of progress reports, minutes, and tracking matrices.
- Support the activation and execution of UNICEF's humanitarian response in case of sudden crises.
- Perform other tasks related to emergency preparedness and project implementation.
Required Experience
- 3 years of general experience.
- Specific experience in planning, implementation, and/or monitoring of programs or projects related to disaster risk management, emergency preparedness, anticipatory action, or humanitarian response.
- Experience in inter-institutional coordination and collaboration with sub-national governments, public institutions, community organizations, and/or humanitarian actors.
- Experience working in the field with rural and/or indigenous communities, including consultation, participation, and territorial coordination processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in risk management, development, social sciences, or related areas.
