Overview

The Applied Behavioural Sciences Officer will support the SBC Specialist in implementing behavioural science approaches within UNICEF Morocco's maternal and child health and nutrition programme and broader SBC portfolio.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the coordination and oversight of behavioural research and experimentation activities.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of behavioural experiments.
  • Review and provide technical inputs on behavioural research protocols, data collection tools, and intervention materials.
  • Support the interpretation of behavioural evidence and translation into programme recommendations.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of capacity strengthening activities on applied behavioural sciences.
  • Contribute to the development of practical approaches, tools, and processes for behavioural experimentation.
  • Support the production of briefs, presentations, reports, and learning products.
  • Provide operational and programme support to the SBC section.
  • Contribute to project monitoring, reporting, and administrative follow-up.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in applied behavioural sciences, social and behaviour change, public health, research, programme support, monitoring and evaluation, capacity strengthening or related fields.
  • Experience supporting research, evidence generation, data collection, analysis and/or programme implementation.
  • Experience supporting the design, implementation or coordination of behavioural experiments, intervention testing or innovation initiatives is an asset.
  • Experience reviewing technical documents and providing inputs on research tools, intervention materials, training materials or analytical products.
  • Experience in maternal and child health, nutrition, community health or public health programmes is an asset.
  • Strong facilitation skills and experience supporting workshops, learning events or capacity strengthening activities.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong writing, documentation and reporting skills.
  • Strong coordination, organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Interest in innovation, experimentation and the practical application of behavioural science to programme challenges.
  • First international working experience is considered an asset.
  • Work experience with international organizations, including in Morocco is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region is considered an asset.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in behavioural science, psychology, social sciences, public health, anthropology, sociology, economics, development studies, communication for development, social and behaviour change, or another relevant field.

Remuneration
Entry Lump Sum: USD 350 Relocation Allowance: USD 175 at the beginning and end of the assignment, provided the duty station is outside commuting distance, as determined by UNV. Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): MAD 13,179.16 per month. Annual Leave: 2.5 days per month. Exit Lump Sum: USD 120 for each month served, payable upon the successful completion of the assignment and contract.
