Overview
The Officer, Disaster Risk Management provides technical, operational, and coordination support to National Societies in implementing Disaster Risk Management programmes and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and support for the implementation of Disaster Risk Management (DRM) capacity-building initiatives.
- Support the planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of programmes/projects related to Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Early Warning for All (EW4All), and Anticipatory Action (AA).
- Support the DRM Coordinator in project inception and partnership engagement.
- Provide technical oversight and coordination with DRM Coordinator and Program Coordinator for Integrated Community-Based Risk Reduction (ICBRR).
- Support the implementation of Pillar 1 on Anticipatory Action and Climate under the GTPP project.
- Provide technical support to promote resilience programming by strengthening linkages between Climate Change Adaptation, DRR, and development programming.
- Maintain effective working relationships with technical project stakeholders and partners.
- Support emergency preparedness, response, and recovery operations by providing technical assistance to PMI and NSs.
- Support National Societies in financial and operational processes related to DRM projects.
- Monitor disaster situations, collect and analyse impact information, and prepare timely situation updates and information products.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
4 - 6 years of experience with minimum of 2 years working in the area of expertise. A broad understanding of global humanitarian issues, disaster recovery and related areas. Experience of working in both emergencies and developmental contexts with international Organization. Experience in NS capacity building in preparedness, response and recovery. Experience working with the National Societies is preferred. Experience of working for the Red Cross / Red Crescent or other humanitarian organization.
Qualifications
University Degree in relevant field. Relevant post graduate qualification/technical training (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
