Overview

The Information Management Officer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining information management working groups, managing content on web platforms, designing and developing databases, and producing information products.


Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain an information management working group.
  • Engage with government counterparts on information activities.
  • Provide training on information management tools and platforms.
  • Advocate for data standards and open information exchange.
  • Manage content on relevant web platforms and ensure quality control.
  • Work with external counterparts on related web platforms.
  • Design, develop, and manage databases, spreadsheets, and data tools.
  • Consolidate operational information for analysis.
  • Organize, design, and carry out the evaluation and analysis of datasets.
  • Advise on the application of data standards into local systems.
  • Participate in the development of a Common Humanitarian Dataset.
  • Support assessment and needs analysis activities.
  • Advise on assessment design for data quality.
  • Manage platforms and tools for data collection and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain spatial baseline and operational datasets.
  • Maintain a repository of spatial data.
  • Produce and update information products such as reports, charts, and infographics.
  • Develop advocacy materials.
Required Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in information management, information systems, web management, data management, geographic information systems & mapping, data visualization, or other related area is required. Experience developing information products in accordance with corporate branding guidelines of a UN agency, international humanitarian organization or similar, is required. Experience in the use of industry-standard software, including experience of Adobe Illustrator and InDesign is required. Experience managing information in disaster response and health emergencies is desirable. Relevant experience within the UN system or an international organization is desirable. Experience in the West and central Africa Region is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in information management, information systems, social science or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
