Overview
The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Officer supports the implementation of WFP's food safety and quality approach within the Yemen Country Office's operational needs. The role involves analytical work and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical inputs for implementing policies and procedures aligned with WFP’s FSQA approach.
- Draft inputs for food assistance programmes, ensuring food safety and quality.
- Implement corporate FSQA incident management and emergency response protocols.
- Follow WFP FSQA regulations for field operations systems.
- Provide technical inputs to supply chain colleagues on food safety and quality.
- Liaise with counterparts to identify and compile relevant data sources.
- Participate in FSQA assurance and packaging research.
- Liaise with staff, partners, and governments to strengthen local food producer capacity.
- Assist in building the capacity of food and food control systems.
- Assist FSQA-related initiatives in the country office.
- Strengthen the capacity of WFP staff, partners, suppliers, and governments.
- Collect and organize data to support report preparation.
- Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required.
Required Experience
Total relevant 5 years of experience including 1 year of professional experience in food safety and quality. Experience in procurement, logistics, and/or supply chain management is desirable.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree in Food Technology, Food Sciences, Nutrition or other related field, or First University degree with two additional years of related work experience.
